Red Chili Rest Camp is superbly located in a convenient place, with ease of exploring Murchison Falls National Park, at just a short distance from the Paraa ferry crossing point. The camp is on the southern bank of the river Nile in the heart of the park.
Red Chili Rest Camp is just 500 meters from the Paraa ferry, where all vehicles cross the Nile for game drive safaris around the Nile Delta. From here boats can be hired for game viewing and sport fishing on the Nile – either up to the base of the Falls, or down to the Nile delta at Lake Albert.
The Camp has a fully stocked bar and a restaurant below a large open thatched roof with spectacular views towards the Nile. The bar serves drinks from 6:30 am till midnight, and meals are available at the following times: Breakfast: 7:20 am – 10:30 am, Lunch: 11:30 am – 3:00 pm, Dinner 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm.
Facilities and activities around Red Chili Rest Camp
Breakfast and lunch are Á la carte, whereas at dinner they offer a choice of 3 different dishes daily. One red meat, one white meat/fish and one vegetarian option. The restaurant also caters for other dietary requirements on request – please call/email to discuss.
A bonfire is lit most evenings (weather permitting), for the full safari experience. There are modern toilets and showers which have provision for disabled visitors and all our en-suite Bandas which are fitted with solar hot water systems. However, the moderate heat in Murchison Falls National Park may mean this isn’t always necessary.
For visitors on a budget, or without their own transport, there are some very popular budget tours to Murchison Falls, departing from Kampala several times a week. They can also cater for those wanting exclusive tours. Please enquire for further information.
Red Chili Rest Camp offers one of the best low to mid-range budget accommodation facilities in the park, in furnished safari tents and Bandas – small individual houses, with public or private bathrooms. It is probably the only camping facility with modern showers, toilets, cooking area and security lighting.
Other national parks in Uganda with highest concentration of wildlife in Uganda include Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is famous for the tree-climbing lions in the southern Ishasha section and a boat cruise along Kazinga channel that joins Lake George and Edward. Kidepo Valley National Park is also another suitable place for the best wildlife safaris in Uganda.
