Getting to Murchison Falls National Park is easier than one can imagine. You can get to the park by either road or air, within the shortest time possible, making Murchison Falls National Park one of the closest and easiest parks to get to, in Uganda.
By road, you can take a long day’s drive from Kampala, the capital of Uganda, through Masindi, via Kichumbanyobo gate, which connects to Paraa in about 5-hours’ drive. Alternatively, Murchison Falls can be reached passing through Budongo Forest while enjoying spectacular views across Lake Albert and from the Rift Valley escarpment above Butiaba.
From the northern side, you can reach the park via Chobe Gate near Karuma Falls and Tangi Gate via Pakwach which is about 25 km to Paara Safari Lodge. A 4WD safari vehicle is always recommended.
Public means of transport such as buses are only available from Kampala to Masindi town. Thereafter you can hire a taxi or salon vehicle to the park.
By air, scheduled flights are available to Murchison Falls every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. All flights depart from Entebbe to Bugungu and Pakuba Airstrips which are about 13 km and 19 km from Paraa.
Flights leave Entebbe at 1230 arriving in 1330 at either Bugungu or Pakuba Airstrip and returning flight depart Murchison Falls at 1345 arriving at 1630.
