Located on the eastern banks of the slow-flowing Albert Nile, Fort Murchison challenges the notion of a well-maintained, isolated outpost reminiscent of the times when Arab traders explored the African hinterlands and legendary explorers journeyed in search of the Nile’s source. Ideally situated and inspired by its rich historical background, Fort Murchison is unlike any other destination in Uganda. The impressive massive tower, earthy-colored walls, and touches of Swahili style will captivate you from the moment you arrive until your departure.

Restaurant & Bar
Our rooftop terrace is the perfect spot for sundowner drinks, offering breathtaking views of the Albert Nile. After enjoying the scenery, guests are welcome to descend to our restaurant, where a delightful four-course dinner awaits.
The restaurant’s décor reflects a Swahili touch, adorned with pictures and drawings from the adventures of early explorers. We take pride in serving only the best. We bake our own bread, and since fresh supplies can be hard to come by in the area, most of our ingredients are sourced from Kampala. We have also started our own vegetable garden and planted a variety of fruit trees, including citrus, mango, pawpaw, jackfruit, passion fruit, and avocado.
While we have several solar-powered fridges and freezers, our stock is limited. As a result, we offer a fixed menu rather than an à la carte option. We kindly request that you inform us in advance of any dietary requirements so we can accommodate your needs.
Our meal times for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are flexible, allowing us to adapt to your schedule. We ensure that nothing is too early or too late!
