13 Day Murchison Falls & Uganda Tours Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival Entebbe Airport – Kampala
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide who will then take you to Cassia Lodge an overnight and dinner. Meal plan Dinner
Day 2: Kampala – Murchison Falls National Park
Begin the panoramic drive north-west through the famous Luwero Triangle and, travel to Masindi via Ziwa Rhino Project. A visit to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino trekking is a must. After lunch, drive to Murchison Falls.
Dinner and overnight stay at Paara Safari Lodge. Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park
After your cup of coffee, your guide will help you spot elephants, lions, cape buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, hartebeests, waterbucks, oribi, bushbucks, Bohor reedbucks, and hyenas. If you are lucky, you will also see the leopard. You will then return to the hotel for breakfast and lunch.
After lunch, you will go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of Murchison Falls stopping just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. En-route, you will marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles, elephants, waterbucks and kobs, over this 17 km stretch.
This is also a zone of many bird species such as Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorants and the rare shoebill stork.
There, you will leave the boat and start your – quite heavy – hike to the top of the falls (for approx. 1 hour), to see where the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment, to plunge into a frothing pool of about 43m below. Your driver/guide will be waiting for you to bring you back to the lodge.

Day 4: Murchison Falls – Fort Portal
You will drive southwards via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant countryside passing traditional homesteads and farms along Albertine Rift escarpments. Visit Lake Butiaba and the Butiaba Landing Site before proceeding to Fort-Portal. This rests in the shadow of the fabled Rwenzori Mountain ranges, locally known as ‘Mountains of the Moon’.
Meals and overnight stay at Ndali Lodge, in a stunning location overlooking a dramatic crater lake. Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 5: Kibale Forest National Park – Part of Murchison Falls & Uganda Tour
After early breakfast, you will report at Kanyanchu Tourist Centre where tourist activities begin and set out to track chimpanzees in the forest. Chances of viewing the chimps are over 90%.
Kibale National Park is one of the most beautiful and stunning forests in Uganda. It is home to our closest living relatives – the endangered chimpanzees, the threatened red-colobus monkeys and the rare L’Hoest’s monkeys. The forest also boasts of having one of the highest diversity and density of primates in Africa totaling to 13 species. These include the black and white colobus, blue, and red-tailed monkeys; , Grey-cheeked mangabey and bush babies and pottos.
After lunch, you will have a tour of the crater region around Ndali Lodge. You may also stop over at any tea plantation along the road if you wish.

Day 6: Kibale Forest National Park – Queen Elizabeth NP
After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park viewing the mystical Rwenzori Mountain ranges for much of the journey. Check in at your accommodation facility as you wait for your lunch.
After lunch, take on an afternoon launch cruise along Kazinga Channel – one that joins Lakes Edward and George. The cruise is a wonderful way to see hippos, buffaloes, kobs, the occasional Nile crocodile and a spectacular bird watching opportunity along the water banks. Many who experience the launch cruise consider it the highlight of their entire African safari.

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth NP – Ishasha
Rise very early with your packed lunch and take on a morning game drive to catch-up with the early risers and predators returning to their hideouts. You will most likely meet grazing hippos, elephants, and lions, spotted hyenas, bushbucks, waterbucks, stripped jackal, comical warthogs and the elusive leopards.
Proceed to Ishasha sector where you will take on yet another evening game drive in search of tree-climbing lions.
Overnight stay and meals at Savannah Resort Hotel. Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 8: Ishasha – Bwindi – Part of Murchison Falls & Uganda Tour
Get on an early morning guided bush walk for a closer interaction with nature. The mid-morning will be spent on a game drive for tree-climbing lions. Thereafter, you will head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, on a journey of about 2 hours, but driving through interesting features.
You will arrive at Bwindi – which is home for the rare mountain gorillas. Apart from gorillas, there are are also a wide variety of primates to see, including the blue and red-tailed monkeys. The forest itself is lush and green with streams running through it.

Day 9: Bwindi Gorilla Trekking
Begin the day with breakfast ready for your gorilla trekking safari, which begins at 8:00 am with a briefing from Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) staff. Ensure that you carry along with you rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, and jungle boots among other protective gear.
The guides will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy primates for a group you have been booked for. Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare mountain gorillas, perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth. The tracking may take between 2 and 6 hours but it’s well worth the effort. The afternoon is spent on relaxation and leisure at your camp.

Day 10: Bwindi – Lake Bunyonyi
After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale. Lunch break is made in Kabale. The afternoon is spent for relaxation and sightseeing around the Lake.

Day 11: Lake Bunyonyi – Lake Mburo
After early morning breakfast, you will begin the day with a boat canoe ride along Lake Bunyonyi before driving to Lake Mburo National Park with a visit to Igongo Cultural Village, to explore and learn the culture of the Bahima and Ankole, before continuing to Lake Mburo National Park. Igongo is a place where the future meets the past.
Dinner and overnight stay at Mihingo Safari Lodge. Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 12: Lake Mburo – Entebbe
Morning game drive in the park which is an extension of the Tanzanian Plains with big herds of zebras, impalas, elands, warthogs, buffaloes and other savannah species. For birders, this is one of the best places to find the African Finfoot, Papyrus, and bush shrikes among others. Thereafter, you will get on an afternoon boat ride amidst hippos – which is so amazing, before returning to Entebbe for overnight stay at Windsor Lake Victoria Hotel. Day 13: Entebbe Out
Early morning transfer to the airport in time for your flight to your next destination.
