This 4-day Murchison Falls and Nile Delta tour is one of the most exciting wildlife safaris to Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda. On this tour you will enjoy a great wildlife safari that includes meeting the Big Five giants of Africa, and a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a rhino trekking safari in Uganda.
Enjoy a wildlife safari viewing experience in Murchison Falls National Park, where you will be able to spot the giant elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, lions and a variety of antelopes. These are regularly encountered on game drives, while lions are increasingly becoming frequent.
4-Day Murchison Falls and Nile Delta Itinerary: –
Day 1: Kampala – Murchison Falls
Our guide picks you up from your hotel or place of residence in Kampala at 7:30 am and begins the panoramic drive north-west through the famous Luwero Triangle and Masindi Town. Branch off for a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided rhino trekking tour and picnic lunch, before continuing to Murchison Falls while enjoying the sunset as you get to your lodge.
Dinner and overnight stay at Bakers’ Lodge Murchison/Paraa Safari Lodge (high-end). Meal plan: lunch and dinner.
Day 2: Murchison Falls
After your cup of coffee, you will cross the Nile by ferry to the northern bank of the park. Your guide will help you spot Elephant, Lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, hartebeest, Waterbuck, Oribi, Bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. Return to the hotel for breakfast and lunch.
After lunch, you will go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of Murchison Falls stopping just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. En-route, you will marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles, elephants, waterbucks and kobs, over this 17 km stretch.
This is also a zone of many bird species such as Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorants and the rare shoebill stork.
There, you will leave the boat and start your – quite heavy – hike to the top of the falls (for approx. 1 hour), to see where the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment, to plunge into a frothing pool of about 43m below. Your driver/guide will be waiting for you to bring you back to the lodge.
Dinner and overnight stay at Bakers’ Lodge Murchison/Paraa Safari Lodge (high-end). Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 3: Boat ride along the Nile Delta Murchison Falls
After your morning breakfast you will get ready for a boat trip on the Nile Delta that takes between 4-5hrs. This one of the most interesting experiences in Murchison Falls National Park through an extensive papyrus delta on the Victoria Nile that flows into Lake Albert. Here, again there are plenty of animals and birds to see with an excellent chance of seeing the rare shoebill stork. The afternoon is spent on a relaxation moment at your lodge.
Dinner and overnight stay at Bakers’ Lodge Murchison/Paraa Safari Lodge (high-end). Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 4: Murchison Falls – Kampala Entebbe Out
Wake up at 6:00 am prepared to take photos of the African rising sun in the morning and enjoy African breakfast. Return to Kampala with your lunch enroute where you will be dropped off to a place of your residence or Entebbe Airport at leisure for your flight to the next destination or back home. Meal plan breakfast and lunch.
The other safari sections across Uganda are the interesting chimpanzee tracking tour in Kibale Forest National Park and the search for tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha wilderness of Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will also visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for an amazing gorilla trekking safari and then end with a Lake Mburo National Park tour.
