On this 1 day Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, you will visit the sanctuary and wildlife ranch located in Nakasongola district for an amazing rhino tracking experience. The Sanctuary is a proud home of the only wild white southern rhinos in Uganda.
This Rhino re-introduction project is of the Rhino Fund Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), and it is conveniently located 176 km (100 miles) north of Kampala on the Kampala – Gulu highway. This is on your way to Murchison Falls National Park, with a short branch off at Nakitoma Trading centre.
Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only place where you will be able to see rhinos in the wild while you are in Uganda. So this will ensure that you fill your list of the Big Five safari animals, that is, lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants and the Rhinos.
Currently, the sanctuary is home to over twenty two (22) southern white rhinos, and these were imported from Kenya and South Africa. However, the population is very promising and the number of rhinos is steady and gradually increasing year by year.
1 Day Visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Uganda
Our guide picks you up from your hotel or place of residence in Kampala at 07:00 am to begin the panoramic drive north-west through the famous Luwero Triangle via Masindi. You will branch off for a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided rhino walk or trekking. Thereafter, you will have lunch at the Sanctuary.
You will then drive back at your convenience where and be dropped off to your hotel or place of residence. Meal plan: lunch.
